Quizzes

Use the Quiz feature in ClassSwift to create quick, one-question assessments designed to check understanding, spark discussions, or add a fun challenge during class. Teachers can create a quiz instantly by:

  • Using the in-class toolbar, or 
  • Preparing them in advance in Pre-Class mode. All saved quizzes are stored in the Quiz Collection for future use.

Quiz Types

The selected Quiz type determines the options presented to students that they will use to answer the question.  


True/False

The True/False quiz type allows for rapid comprehension checks, graded pop quizzes, or discussion starters. To create a True/False quiz, follow these steps:

  1. Start a lesson 
  2. Select Quiz from the toolbar.
  3. Select True/False in the Quiz menu.
  4. Drag your mouse over the content you wish to capture for the quiz.
  5. Select Start Quiz.


Monitor the Results section as students respond. 

  1. Answers will populate as True or False.
  2. To stop receiving responses, select the End quiz button
  3. Share the correct answer with the class. 


Review answers with the class, or transition into a discussion. 

  • Use the left panel to review response data as a bar graph or pie chart.
  • Use the right panel to: 
    • View individual responses.
    • Hide answers. Use the View button to show or hide the responses.
    • Randomly select a student for discussion. 

Multiple Choice

The Multiple Choice quiz type offers flexibility with single or multiple answer options.

To create a Multiple Choice quiz, follow these steps:

  1. Start a lesson and click Multiple Choice in the Quiz tab.
  2. Drag your mouse over the question to select your content.
  3. Choose the following settings:
    1. ABC or 123 answer formats.
    2. Single or multiple answers.
    3. Number of answer choices (up to 6).
  4. Click Start Quiz.
  5. Monitor the Results section as students respond. Click End Quiz to stop receiving answers.
  6. Select the correct answer and click Disclose Answer to share it with students.
  7. View responses in the Results section. Use the  icon to hide/show student names and numbers. Switch between bar and pie charts using the  buttons.
  8. End the activity by closing the window with .

Poll

Poll quizzes are ungraded and designed for discussions, information gathering, or quick classroom votes.

To create a Poll quiz, follow these steps:

  1. Start a lesson and click Poll in the Quiz tab.
  2. Drag your mouse over the question to select your poll content.
  3. Select the number of choices and click Start Quiz.
  4. Monitor the Results page as students respond. Click End Quiz to stop receiving responses.
  5. Review student responses. There are no correct/incorrect answers in this mode. Use the  buttons to switch between bar and pie charts. Click the  button to randomly select a student.

Audio

Audio quizzes allow students to submit audio recordings as answers, ideal for language learning, pronunciation practice, or music theory.

To create an Audio quiz, follow these steps:

  1. Start a lesson and click Audio in the Quiz tab.
  2. Drag your mouse over the question to select your quiz content.
  3. Click Start Quiz to begin.
  4. Monitor the Results window as students submit responses. Click End Quiz to stop receiving responses.
  5. Play individual submissions by clicking on a student’s name. Audio responses are stored in ClassSwift Hub for later review.

Short Answer

Short Answer quizzes accept free-text responses and include optional AI Grading for quick feedback.

To create a Short Answer quiz, follow these steps:

  1. Start a lesson and click Short Answer in the Quiz tab.
  2. Drag your mouse over the question to select your quiz content.
  3. Click Start Quiz to begin.
  4. After students submit responses, click End Quiz to stop receiving answers.
  5. Review responses, start a discussion, or use AI Grading to generate comments for each response. Note that AI-generated comments are not saved.

Quiz Generator

The Quiz Generator uses AI to create quizzes based on educational standards and languages. Generated quizzes can be saved to the Quiz Collection for future use.

To use the Quiz Generator, follow these steps:

  1. Screen capture text or images and configure settings in the drop-down menus. Use the sidebar for additional settings to refine the generated questions.
  2. Click Generate Quiz.
  3. Review the generated question and answers:
    1. View the AI-generated answer: .
    2. Edit the question: .
    3. Generate a new question: .
    4. Save to Quiz Collection: .
    5. Send to class: .

Note: Always review AI-generated content before sharing it with the class.
